Garden Stuff…

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

On my way to the part of the garden reserved for my ducks, I took some photos of what is going on in the rest of my garden. Somehow, this year is primarily about herbs. Especially since the lack of sun has not done much good for my collection of old and scented roses…

Grapes and echinacea purpurea (I used to have a beautiful white variety but unfortunately it didn’t survive last year’s harsh winter)

Indian Runner Ducks & New Kittens

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

28072009 029 Our Indian Runner ducks are turning 6 weeks this week, so now we are  trying to tell which ones are drakes and which ones ducks. An experienced duck-keeper told me that the drakes get a curly feather on their tails and have a different sound to their voice…. One of the ducklings does have a typical male quack to it but I haven’t seen any curly feathers yet – so I guess we’ll just have to sit and wait.

On another note, Haley and Victor had a litter of beautiful black spotted kittens on Sunday. New pics of them soon!!!
