of a cat
I always enjoy getting to see what me former charges are up to these days and was really happy to get these pictures. Aren’t they just adorable? These are pictures of Apollo, from our litter ealier this year, doing what he does best, and no, that’s not Starbuck he’s sitting next to – it’s a beautiful Japanese Akita Inu! Thank you Rene, Allison and kids for the pics!

September 16th, 2009Garden Stuff…
August 4th, 2009On my way to the part of the garden reserved for my ducks, I took some photos of what is going on in the rest of my garden. Somehow, this year is primarily about herbs. Especially since the lack of sun has not done much good for my collection of old and scented roses…
An attempt at growing melons and salad in containers.
Grapes and echinacea purpurea (I used to have a beautiful white variety but unfortunately it didn’t survive last year’s harsh winter)
Nasturtium – yummy….
Indian Runner Ducks & New Kittens
August 4th, 2009
Our Indian Runner ducks are turning 6 weeks this week, so now we are trying to tell which ones are drakes and which ones ducks. An experienced duck-keeper told me that the drakes get a curly feather on their tails and have a different sound to their voice…. One of the ducklings does have a typical male quack to it but I haven’t seen any curly feathers yet – so I guess we’ll just have to sit and wait.
On another note, Haley and Victor had a litter of beautiful black spotted kittens on Sunday. New pics of them soon!!!
Look who’s Peeping….
June 28th, 2009This weekend marked the weekend of our very first Indian Runner ducklings sired by Drake Leon und Duck Lina
There were 8 eggs in total, 5 of which have hatched up to now. This breed of duck is known for not being the broodiest in the world, so we were particularly surprised when we found a nest of eight blue-green eggs ready to be tended to!!
